- Real Estate and Estate Planning Attorney
Description
Boutique law firm. Big-firm capability. People-first culture. Come build with us.
About Franklin & Frankel
Franklin & Frankel LLC is a boutique law firm in the heart of West Hartford Center, built on more than 40 years of relationships in this community. We serve business owners, families, individuals and property owners across Connecticut and Massachusetts at the moments that matter most: buying or selling real estate or a business, transitioning a healthcare practice, or planning an estate. We bring the sophistication of a large firm and the responsiveness, personal investment, and care of the people next door. We start by understanding what matters to our clients and why it matters. Then we get to work.
Our Culture
We do things differently here, and we're proud of it. A few of the values that shape how we work together:
- Every person on the team is integral — not interchangeable, not just staff. The attorney we hire next is the firm, just as much as the rest of us.
- We care about each other as people, not just colleagues. The team that trusts each other does the best work for clients.
- Responsiveness is non-negotiable. Emails get returned. Calls get answered. Clients and teammates never wonder where they stand.
- Relationships over wins. We don't fight when we can build. Today's opposing counsel is tomorrow's referral source.
- Big-firm sophistication, small-firm warmth. That combination is what we sell to clients and how we treat each other internally.
- When the firm grows, you grow. When you grow, the firm grows. That's the deal.
If that sounds like a place you'd thrive, keep reading.
About the Role
We're hiring an attorney to join our real estate and estate planning practice, two of the busiest, most rewarding parts of our work, where we walk clients and families through some of the most consequential decisions of their lives.
This is a hybrid remote/in-person position with flexible scheduling (3 days in-office, negotiable depending on schedule). We welcome both full-time and part-time candidates, and we're genuinely open to creative arrangements for the right person.
What You'll Do
- Advise clients on estate planning matters — wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and the broader planning conversations behind them
- Represent buyers, sellers, lenders, and landlords in residential and commercial real estate transactions (purchases, sales, refinances, leases)
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with our attorneys and paralegals on matters where collaboration, not heroics, gets the best result
- Build relationships with clients, referral partners, and our West Hartford community
Who We're Looking For
Ideally, you bring 5+ years of experience in both residential real estate and estate planning. We know that profile is rare, so we're equally enthusiastic about candidates with 5+ years in one of those two areas and the interest and aptitude to grow into others with our support.
Also valuable (but not required):
- Probate experience in Connecticut
- Business law and/or commercial real estate experience
- Bank closing representation experience (we represent banks on SBA 504 loans, among others)
Even more important than the resume:
- A genuine commitment to client service, the kind that returns the call, digs into the situation, and asks "why" before "how"
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sees AI as a way for a small firm to punch above its weight without losing the personal service that defines us
- Someone who thrives in a small, collaborative, people-first firm and would rather be a name than a number
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation: $125,000 to $175,000 commensurate with experience, open to discussion
- Benefits package
- Flexible time off and vacation
- Origination credit: meaningful compensation for new business you bring in
- A clear path to grow with the firm, including partnership discussion for the right candidate
- Real flexibility: hybrid, part-time, and creative arrangements available for the right person
How to Apply
Send your resume and a brief cover letter to the listed contact with the subject line "Attorney Application." In your cover letter, tell us a bit about the kind of practice you'd want to build with us. We'd love to hear from you.
