JOB TITLE: Meetings and Marketing Intern
DEPARTMENT: Meetings
REPORTS TO: Meetings Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
ACMG is seeking an intern to assist with the logistical management and marketing of ACMG’s meeting activities. This internship position will report directly to the Meetings Manager. This is a unique opportunity to experience both pre-meeting preparation and onsite implementation of medical association meetings. A successful Meetings and Marketing Intern will demonstrate an interest in and the ability to learn key information and understand the operations of the association. The intern can expect to learn about association meetings, how to work with supplier partners and the technology used to manage conferences.
ABOUT ACMG
The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) is the only nationally recognized interdisciplinary professional membership organization that represents the interests of the entire medical genetics team including clinical geneticists, clinical laboratory geneticists, and genetic counselors. Together, the ACMG and its members engage in coordinated efforts to improve patient care, ensure optimal reimbursement for genetic service providers, establish standards of care and laboratory policy, and educate members about advances important to their practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Meeting Planning Logistics
-Monitor the general meetings inbox and respond to registration, housing and other logistical inquiries, including visa support
-Update the online schedule for the Annual Meeting as needed
-Assist with printing badges, tent cards, and additional items before meetings
-Order supplies and assist with packing materials for the Annual Meeting
-Audit Annual Meeting registration reports and activities on a weekly basis
-Assist with staff preparations and orders for Annual Meeting
-Assist with scheduling committee meetings held during the Annual Meeting
-Assist with logistics for the Speed Mentoring sessions, to include email follow up
Onsite at the Meeting in Baltimore
-Provide backup and support onsite for setup, F&B checks and other tasks as assigned
Marketing and Social Media
-Draft marketing eBlasts to promote the Annual Meeting
-Draft social media posts to promote the Annual Meeting on various platforms, including X, Facebook, and Instagram
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED (Minimum education and experience needed to perform the job adequately)
-Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in event management, planning/hospitality or a related field or recent graduate of such an associate or bachelor's degree program
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel and strong computer skills
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Possession of excellent customer service skills
-Comfortable with technology and learning new platforms
-Possession of excellent proofreading skills, attention to detail and accuracy
-Ability to be extremely organized and work in a fast-paced environment
-Demonstrates the ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Proficient in crafting compelling messages to be posted on multiple social media sites
-Demonstrates an interest in meeting logistics
-Interest in medical/healthcare meetings a plus
INTERNSHIP DURATION AND HOURS
-November 3, 2025 – March 14, 2026
-5-10 hours per week leading up to the Annual Meeting
-Approximately 50 hours during the week of the Annual Meeting (March 8-14, 2026)
LOCATION
-Most work can be done remotely
-Some in-person tasks at ACMG’s office in Bethesda, MD, likely during the weeks of February 9 – 13 and February 16 – 20, 2026
IN-PERSON MEETING MANAGEMENT
-Travel to the 2026 ACMG Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MD (March 8-14, 2026) preferred.
-ACMG will cover travel to the meeting, accommodation at a hotel in the ACMG block, and meals or per diem for onsite days.

$15/ hour

ADA SPECIFICATIONS
This is a largely sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs. Ability to travel to Baltimore, MD for Annual Meeting.
